A memory popped up on my personal feed from 10 years ago. At that time, I was experiencing severe anxiety & agoraphobia. Ventures out were few & far between, often riddled with fear & panic. It would require planning & back up planning to even think about going out. Anything outside of required grocery shopping, I wanted another person. Routine was safety & alterations meant the unknown which was dangerous.
I will be forever grateful for a few people placed at the right time & place that helped me threw. one in particular was an old high school friend that coaxed me into adventures with our kiddos. The fear offered excuse not to go but, most of the time, she pulled me out anyway. As I struggled to relate to the world, I found my camera. It was used to build my relationship with the wide open spaces. I could focus on just one thing or space. I could anchor myself to that & not try to take it all in at once. I could zone in, quiet everything, only hear & connect with what the lens saw.
